~ Ready to Eat OSECHI ~ For a new year day,I had a 'ready to eat' Osechi, a traditional new year's dishes delivered. Recently,

people has come to buy Osechi that they used to cook by themseleves. So, the market of 'ready to eat ' Osechi has been growing year after year. The market volume was said to be about 37 billion yen in 2007. I can't find the accurate number, but I think the volume is more 40 billion yen this year.

This' outsourced cooking Osechi ' trend has been accelerated by two factors. One is smaller household member and the other is change of our life style. New year used to be a special holiday and ceremony for people, but now we, especailly young generation don't find the special meaning for it. The first three days of year, Sanganichi is passed as always.

New year day has become just a skellton of ceremony. Therefore we need Osechi for the ceremony decoration, not for the food.
