正月明けのデパートと言えば、新宿京王 駅弁大会。1966年に始まる本大会は、今年で44回目。全国から駅弁と集め、また独自の弁当も開発するなど、名物催事のひとつだ。約２週間近くにわたるイベントだが、昨年は約６億５千万円の売上（ 日経トレンディネットから）というから驚きだ。会場である７Ｆへの直通エレベーターに乗り込む人たちの熱気がすごい。
新宿京王百貨店は、中高年のデパートとして確立しているが、エレベーターの案内など、随所のサービスに顧客に対する温かい心が感じられる。今更ながら、まだまだ学ぶべきことがたくさんある。
~ Eki-Ben festival at Shinjku Keio ~ After new year's holiday, I was looking forward to that very Eki-Ben festival ( lunch boxes sold in the train or at the platform) at Keio departmentstore in Shinjuku ! This famous event
started in 1966. Since then they have suggested dozens of Eki-Ben collected from all over Japan and every year they developed the original and new Eki-Ben by themselves.
To our amazement, they sold about 650 million yen last year in two weeks or less session. The customers are very excited even while waiting for the elevator direct to the event floor.
Shinjku Keio has established their brand as a department store for the middle and elder age. I can feel hospitality for these types of customers everywhere. We have many things to study from this department store.
